WILDE WASSER: AN DER ILLER - WILD WATER: ON THE BANKS OF THE ILLER

WILDE WASSER: AN DER ILLER - WILD WATER: ON THE BANKS OF THE ILLER

Water is a curse and a blessing. It gives life and destroys it. In mountain areas, above all, these extremes meet. So it was during the devastating flooding of the Iller, in the mountainous region of Allgäu, in Germany. Man had used the water’s power to produce energy by deviating the river’s path and building dams. Now it remains to return the water to its natural course with projects that guard against flooding.
