BABEL
by Hendrick Dusollier
15’, France, 2010
The protagonist leaves his village in the Celestial Mountains to go to Shanghai and discovers that in the frenetic metropolis other, brick, mountains rise like a challenge in the sky. Alienated from nature, the man seems lost in an artificial world that is hostile to him. This short film is an allegory of modern China with its unstoppable and uncontrollable transformation from a rural to an industrial civilization.
