The mountainous territory between Italy and the former Yugoslavia is that which, after 1947, felt most deeply the consequences of the “iron curtain”, and which suffered extensive depopulation. The little stories of the few remaining inhabitants, and of those who are now returning, are the emblem of a larger story that, in spite of everything, has not prevented the people up there from maintaining their customs, language, and traditions.
