L’ETÀ DELLA PIETRA - THE STONE AGE
by Federico Betta, Alessandro Genovese
28’, Italy, 2011
This investigative documentary focuses on the world of porphyry extraction in the Autonomous Region of Trento. Allowing the workers, business owners, union organizers, and those responsible for public and private institutions to speak, the film reveals that porphyry extraction is a litmus test of provincial policy regarding land management. In a little valley are all of the contradictions of a vast world: strong powers, conniving companies, and communities imprisoned by the insane exploitation of natural resources.
