Zwischen Bayern und Tirol – Natur in Karwendel
(Between Bavaria and Tyrol – Nature in the Karwendel Mountains)
by Christian Herrmann
44', Digital Betacam, Germany, 2007
Inserted between Bavaria and Tyrol is the internal part of the Karwendel range. This mountainous region belongs, politically, to Austria, but those wanting to reach it must pass through German Bavaria. After three years of preparation and twelve months of filming, the director Christian Herrmann captured the natural ecosystem of this region, over the four seasons, from surprising viewpoints. The footage was shot both from the ground and the sky, using first a helicopter and then a small video camera mounted on the back of an eagle. The extraordinary and unique footage allows us to see, from an unprecedented perspective, the grandeur of these mountains and the richness of their flora and fauna.
