To leave or to stay? This is the prevailing question for those who live in the mountains. With black-and-white poetry, the director recounts the  mountains in Calabria and criticizes the lack of prospects for their inhabitants. It seems that no social or political change is possible here. The coming and goings of a broken-down car, on strips of highway within the wild natural landscape, is the emblem of isolation in an immovable world.

Tommaso Cotronei
Born in a small town in Calabria in 1955, Cotronei began working while still very young alongside his parents, before “escaping”, at age twenty, from his homeland. In 1993 he became the assistant to the director Vittorio De Seta and in 1997 made his first film, discovering, in cinema, the means to express himself.
