A voyage from Corsica to the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, from Provence to the Trentino, to discover the morra game. Woven together are dialects and languages, local sayings and swear words, curses and laughter, in a game that depends on speed, wit, cleverness, intelligence, and loyalty. Th is is a magical rite, more than a game, that brings out the uncontrolled, wild side of whoever plays it. Every region, every town, and every district has its own way of playing morra, the fruit of secular, maybe even millenarian, traditions, but all have in common the sense of release, liberation, anger, and, fi nally, of satisfaction that only the game can give.
