Among the special events this year the Film Festival della Lessinia will dedicate a retrospective to woods and forests to coincide with the International Year of Forests proclaimed by the United Nations for 2011 and of which the Festival is an official partner. On the programme are films and documentaries about mountain woods and forests and a rich schedule of events including exhibitions, literary encounters, and excursions.

Presented in competition at the 61st edition of the Berlinale, Werner Herzog's new documentary, filmed in the Chauvet cave in France, arrives at the Film Festival della Lessinia for its second Italian screening. This is the first film made in this treasure trove of art that contains the oldest known paintings realized by man in a natural setting, more than 30,000 years ago. Herzog, who had the privilege of entering this cave closed to all visitors with his telecamera, used 3D technology for the first time in his career. The film will inaugurate the 17th edition of the Film Festival della Lessinia on Saturday, August 20, 2011.

The selection committee of the 17th Film Festival della Lessinia has completed the viewing of 231 features, documentaries, shorts, and animated films from 40 countries. The films chosen will participate in the Festival in the following categories: competition, other mountains, children's mountains, and special events.
 

The entry period for works in competition at the 17th Film Festival della Lessinia has expired. No additional films will be accepted.

The regulations for the 17th edition of the Film Festival della Lessinia to be held in Bosco Chiesanuova (Verona) from August 20 - 28, 2011 are now available. The deadline for works in competition is May 1, 2011. Download the REGULATIONS and ENTRY FORM.

The FIlm Festival della Lessinia presents two days of screenings in Verona, featuring the best of the 2010 edition of this international event. The dates are Saturday, December 4 and Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Teatro Stimate, with three screenings each day at 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p,m.  This weekend of films opens the theatre festival, Il cielo sopra Verona, directed by Alessandro Anderloni.  Tickets are available through the www.greenticket.it circuit.
